Mark Monson

Mark Monson uses his experience in two and three dimensional art to combine a broad range of styles and motifs in his work. With solo shows in New York and Chicago to his credit, as well as numerous commissions and awards, Mark approaches glass with the skill and sensitivities of an experienced painter and sculptor.

He became a partner at Glasshouse Studios after training with James Nowak for three years. Glasshouse Studio, founded in 1972, is the oldest glassblowing studio in the Northwest and continues to produce exquisite glass. In March 1998, the team of artists/employees purchased the Studio bringing a wide variety of backgrounds and philosophies to their work. Their commitments to their craft and each other have created this opportunity to design and produce one of a kind and limited production editions of fine handmade glass. They can be seen working in their studio daily.

The Pacific Northwest has gained international recognition as a leading center for the design and creation of glass. The rise of the Studio Glass Movement is represented here by a large community of artists working individually or in the dozens of small studios found in the region. The artists at the Glasshouse Studio invite you to observe and reflect upon their work, and consider adding it to your personal art collection.
